Low Energy

Look beyond the symptoms to understand what may be affecting your energy
Low Energy

Feeling tired occasionally is normal, but persistent low energy can make it harder to feel like yourself. Difficulty getting through the day, relying on caffeine, struggling to focus or waking up without feeling refreshed may signal that it is worth taking a closer look at your overall health.

Low energy can have many potential contributors, including sleep, stress, nutrition, hormones, thyroid function and other health factors. At Confident Med Spa, our wellness approach focuses on understanding the bigger picture through Functional Wellness, Comprehensive Labs and, when appropriate, Hormone Therapy.

Wellness care is available in New Hampshire and Maine, including our Windham and South Portland locations, with Virtual Wellness options available for eligible patients throughout both states.

Common Symptoms

Patients experiencing low energy may notice persistent fatigue, difficulty getting started in the morning, an afternoon energy crash, reduced stamina, trouble concentrating, brain fog, changes in motivation or feeling tired even after getting a full night of sleep.

Our Approach

Low energy is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Instead of assuming there is one cause, our providers look at your symptoms, health history and lifestyle to determine whether additional evaluation may be appropriate. Comprehensive Labs can provide additional insight into areas such as thyroid function, hormones and other relevant health markers. Your provider can use those results alongside your symptoms and health history to develop a personalized Functional Wellness plan. When clinically appropriate, Hormone Therapy or other wellness services may be discussed as part of your individualized care plan. The goal is to better understand potential contributors to how you feel and determine appropriate next steps.

Your energy can be influenced by multiple areas of your health. Depending on your symptoms, lab results and goals, your provider may recommend additional wellness services as part of a personalized plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I feel tired all the time?

Persistent fatigue can have many potential causes, including sleep quality, stress, nutrition, hormonal changes, thyroid function, medications and other health conditions. A medical evaluation can help determine whether additional testing or care is appropriate.

Can hormone changes cause low energy?

Hormonal changes may contribute to fatigue or changes in energy for some patients. Symptoms alone cannot determine whether hormones are the cause, so your provider may recommend lab testing when appropriate.

Can thyroid function affect energy levels?

Yes. Thyroid hormones play an important role in metabolism and other body functions, and changes in thyroid function can be associated with fatigue. Lab testing can help evaluate thyroid markers when clinically appropriate.

What labs can be checked for low energy?

The appropriate testing depends on your symptoms and health history. Your provider may evaluate thyroid, hormone and other relevant health markers rather than using the same lab panel for every patient.

Can I have a wellness consultation virtually?

Yes. Eligible patients in New Hampshire and Maine can access Virtual Wellness for convenient wellness care. Your provider can determine which parts of your evaluation and treatment plan can be completed through Telehealth.
