How To Prepare

Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 4 weeks prior. Discontinue retinoids and exfoliating acids 1 week before. Your provider may prescribe antiviral medication if you have a history of cold sores. Come with a clean face, no makeup.

What To Expect During Treatment

Your provider will apply topical numbing cream and may use local anesthetic for deeper treatments. The CO2 laser is precisely passed over the treatment area, creating controlled micro-injuries that stimulate collagen remodeling. You’ll feel heat and a prickling sensation. Full face treatment takes 30–45 minutes.

What To Expect After Treatment

Expect significant redness, swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation for 5–7 days. The skin will peel and flake as it heals — this is normal and expected. Keep the area moisturized and follow your provider’s aftercare instructions carefully. Avoid sun exposure and wear SPF 50+ daily. Initial healing takes 7–10 days, with continued improvement over 3–6 months as collagen remodels.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this treatment help with?

Laser resurfacing helps improve skin tone, texture, and overall skin quality by targeting damaged skin and stimulating collagen production. It is commonly used to address fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, sun damage, discoloration, uneven texture, and signs of aging.

Is there any downtime or recovery?

Downtime varies depending on the type and intensity of the laser treatment. Most patients experience temporary redness, swelling, dryness, or peeling during the healing process. Recovery can range from a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the treatment performed.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

Some improvement may be noticeable once the skin heals, with continued results developing over several months as collagen production increases. Results can last for months to years depending on the treatment, skincare routine, sun protection, and maintenance plan.
